Portobello – a little bit of Italy

Portobello, located in Downtown Disney Market Place, serves robust Italian country fare in a casually refined setting which overlooks Lake Buena Vista Lagoon.
The lunch menu ranges from Italian appetizers like calamari, soups and salads, to the chef’s antipasti platter. Pasta, pizza from a wood-burning oven, and sub sandwiches make up the bulk of the lunch options. Prices range from $8.95 to $16.95.

Luncheon guests can also enjoy festive beverages like specialty cocktails and Italian cream sodas. The dinner menu adds steaks, seafood, chicken, and duck. Entrée prices range from $17.95 to $28.95. Try an Italian frozen confection like gelato or sorbet for dessert. No Italian meal is complete without a cappuccino and Portobello has several, with and without added alcohol. Speaking of alcohol, Portobello’s wine list runs four pages and has been recognized by Wine Spectator magazine. Naturally, many of the wines are Italian, while others are domestic, Australian, and Spanish.

The children’s menu includes pizza and spaghetti. Good old American hamburgers and hotdogs are available, too, and health-conscious parents will be pleased to see lots of fresh fruit on the menu.

The restaurant opened in 1989 as the Portobello Yacht Club. It underwent a complete renovation and name change in 2009 under the leadership of executive chef Steven Richard. The Disney Dining Plan is accepted here. Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dinner hours are between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m. Portobello offers cooking classes as well as wine pairing events and children’s pizza parties.
