The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
The proposed park was first announced May 31, 2007, but building the park took over three years, right up to the grand opening on June 18, 2010.
The biggest attraction is Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, a seated ride that takes you through Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and its environs — watch out for the Whomping Willow and the lurking Dementors. There are also two roller coasters, the dual Dragon Challenge intended for thrill seekers who don’t mind an inverted ride and the family-friendly Flight of the Hippogriff, where the riders sit on the back of the mythical creature with the body of a horse and the head, talons and wings of an eagle. Explore the full-size model of the Hogwart’s Express railroad train. You can also visit the town of Hogsmeade, where you can eat in the restaurants, visit the Hog’s Head Inn and shop in Honeydukes, The Three Broomsticks, Zonko’s Joke Shop and Dervish and Banges.
Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods, right at the exit from the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride, has Hogwarts souvenirs and many replicas of props from the films — you can also get a photo of your ride experience.
Ollivander’s Wand Shop is different — only twenty people at a time are invited in to try out magic wands. Only one will be chosen to experience the moment when the wand chooses a wizard.
